A CHURCH established 42 years ago celebrated the opening of its K150,000 building at Pinetop, Wau in Bulolo, Morobe.
Redemption Baptist church pastor Francis Kapiso said it was a dream come true after they finally did away with bush materials.
“The light of God is shining and drawing people to have fellowship with Jesus Christ,” he told people during the opening last Saturday.
The church was established in the area in 1980, spreading the Good News to the people of Wau.
Missionary Luther Smith held the first church fellowship under a mango tree at the site where the new building is located.
“As years go by, church members grew in number and there was a need to have a bigger and better church building,” he said.
“With contributions from church members and individuals, we started construction last year.”
There is also an abolition block and a new water supply system.
An alluvial mining company based in Wau will assist the church with power and lighting.
