Congregation to build church
CONGREGATION of the Tokarara United church (TUC) in Port Moresby will now have a permanent location for worship following the launching of a project to build a modern worship complex.
The project, launched under the 2020 TUC theme “Preparing for Kingdom experience and expansion” will cost more than K1 million to complete.
The project was officiated by TUC pioneer, Madu Gasika, 87, and witnessed by congregation members in Port Moresby last weekend.
TUC projects convener Petu Petueli said the project was a long term goal of its pioneer members.
“Forty-eight years ago when Tokarara United church congregation gathered to worship in classrooms at the Tokarara Primary School.
“Eventually, we decided to have a permanent location for worship,” he said.
“We will build a church fully enclosed with walls open like many other churches.”
Congregation chairperson Karo Tuli said the day marked a great start for their congregation in their desire to build a modern worship complex.
“Our vision is to build a complex that will facilitate for the worship and other church gatherings,” he said.
“It would be used by our young believers in the years to come and also for our young church musicians.”
