THE people of the Haku constituency on Buka are planning a reconciliation to unite factions in the area.
It is being planned for Eltupan village on Thursday.
North Bougainville representative for ex-combatants Ben Malatana Korus said the reconciliation was vital to allow peace and normalcy to prevail.
Haku MP Robert Tsika supported the initiative with K15,000.
The people have also started with the retrieval of the bodies of those killed who would be given proper burials. “We did two bone retrievals already – one at Tohatsi village and one at Koheno village,” he said.
The constituency lost 149 members of the Bougainville Revolutionary Army and about 56 resistance force members during the Bougainville Uprising in 1989.
The official figures of people who died in each area are: Haku 50, Halia 23, Hagogohe five, Tsitalato seven, Peit 20, Tonsu 33, Selau nine, Kunua 47 and Tinputz 41.
