Construction on Harbourside South to begin this month

CONSTRUCTION on Harbourside South in Port Moresby’s town area will begin this month.
Harbourside Development Ltd (HDL) signed a contract with China State Construction Engineering Corporation PNG Ltd on May 28 for the construction of Harbourside South, a large mixed-use development.
Harbourside South is the second part of the development of the Harbourside precinct.
Constructed on the site of the old Steamships Shipping office and is due for completion in 2022.
According to a statement from Pacific Palms Property, which is a division of Steamships Trading Company (STC) and the property managers for HDL, the project has been designed to Australian building codes and to the relevant Australian construction standards.
At over a quarter of a billion kina, this investment demonstrates Steamships and partner Papua New Guinea Sustainable Development Programme Ltd’s commitment to urban renewal and driving the Papua New Guinea economy forward.
On top of providing the best fitness facilities in Port Moresby with both a leisure and a 25-metre pool, the building will be split over 21 levels of multi-use commercial, retail, serviced apartments with sufficient car parking for the whole Harbourside precinct.
