Continuous changing of administrator upsets MP
The National, Thursday July 24th, 2014
WEWAK MP Jim Simatab has expressed disappointment over the continuous appointments of acting provincial administrators for East Sepik since last year.
Simatab, who is the Correctional Service Minister, said the culture of having acting provincial administrators reflected poorly on service deliver in the province because there was no permanent administrator to make decisions and roll-out major projects.
Simatab was speaking at the opening of the induction for 109 ward members in his district at Divine Word University Kaindi Campus on Monday.
“A very good example is the health system. The provincial administration has yet to create more paid positions for health workers in our district.
“We can train health workers and send them to work in the district but who will pay for their wages?
“The district is therefore partnering with the churches like Catholic and Seventh-day Adventist to roll-out this service because we treasure our people’s lives and cannot wait for the provincial administration.
“It is the same in other areas, we can’t wait, we are now moving ahead without you,” Simatab told acting provincial administrator Otto Ganaii and senior provincial government officers at Kaindi.
Ganaii admitted to administrative problems highlighted by Simatab, adding that Wewak had done well because of a good district administrator in Ricky Wobar.
