MORE than 1,000 women from United church have gathered in New Ireland this week for their ninth national convention.
The week-long event is being held at the Kimadan division of Sentral Niu Ailan local level government, Namatanai, with the theme “Go beyond boundaries and harvest into the future”.
Women’s ministry national adviser Marama Wendy Siai said convention aimed at achieving a paradigm shift in the works of the ministry to attract younger women to build better homes for their families.
Siai said the ministry had been in existence for the last 50 years with an ideal structure to implement empowerment programmes that varies from spiritual enrichment to practical home management and social training.
Discussions during the convention would include topics such as gender-based violence, risk management, positive parenting, child development and non-communicable diseases among others.
