A SERIAL escapee vanished for the fourth time from the Manus prison while guards were on duty on Sunday – four days after he had been re-captured and returned there.
The man, Wendal Agua, 28, from Likum village in the Pobuma local level government area, was charged with wilful murder in 2019, and jailed 30 years with hard labour.
According to provincial police commander Chief Insp David Yapu, Correctional Services did not keep an eye on the man who was a “known trouble-maker” and a man who had influenced crime in the province.
“We re-captured him on Jan 27, and then on Sunday, he escaped,” Chief Insp Yapu said.
“This is the fourth time this man has run away.
“This is the man who was involved in the shooting of a Bangadeshi after the gang he was in failed to get money from the man.”
The convicted murderer is alleged to have scaled a 4m high fence topped with barbed wire and escaped.

  • TRY SEND HIM TO BUIMO CIS AND SEE IF HE CAN CLIMB THAT FENCE.

YOUR SOLUTION IS TO TRANSFER HIM TO BOMANA OR BUIMO, DEPENDING ON THE NATURE OF HIS OFFENCE.

  • Escaping for the 4th time? The correctional Services Officers liable to watch over their cell are putting too much pressure on the Police force. So now the police will be running to recapture him for the 5th time? Just let him go Ins Yapu as you may put your officers at risk when the escapee fires back. Or let the Correctional Services Officers responsible look for and capture him.
