A WOMAN has been arrested in connection with the killing of former Wewak police station commander senior inspector Charles Parinjo on Feb 25 last year.

The woman was believed to be in his car when he was killed by a group of drunk men who were blocking the road.

Provincial police commander Chief Supt Joe Poma said police faced a lot of problems during their lengthy investigation.

He thanked Parinjo’s relatives for their patience and understanding.

Parinjo was killed at Kandi as he was driving to his Boikin village residence.

The woman is the wife of a police officer.

She has been charged with murder and remanded at Correctional Service custody after briefly appearing in the Wewak Committal Court last Wednesday.

“We now have credible witnesses coming forward and giving their statements and we are hoping to make some more arrests shortly,” Poma said.

He said his team of investigators was ready to arrest and charge persons linked to the officer’s killing.
