Cop charged with drunk driving

A POLICE officer has been charged with drinking alcohol and misusing a police vehicle.
Central PPC Laimo Asi said a senior officer caught him at Kupiano drinking with civilians in a police vehicle. He was returning to the Moreguina police station, Abau district from Port Moresby.
He allegedly bought beer and allowed the civilians into the police vehicle.
Laimo said the officer had been suspended for 21 days.
Meanwhile, a man has been charged with rape after impregnating a 25-year old women at Goodenough Island in Milne Bay.
Provincial police commander Joseph Morehari said the incident happened in September last year at Wailasi village.
The baby later died, he said.
The man allegedly threatened her not to tell anyone about what happened but she revealed everything to relatives when she became pregnant.
Her sister reported the matter to the police.
