A POLICEMAN charged with wilful murder for allegedly killing two man in Port Moresby three years ago has appeared in court on an arrest warrant.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Danny Wakikura said Carl Laba, 23, of Waidore village in South Fly, Western, was charged with two counts of murder in 2020 but had never appeared in court.
Wakikura said Laba was served a police hand up brief and had not made a defence submission.
Laba told the court that his files were with a former lawyer from the Public Solicitor’s office but she had left the office and the files had been lost.
Magistrate Wakikura then adjourned the matter to May 24 for mention and remanded Laba.
Police alleged that on Sept 28, 2019, between 7pm and 8pm, Laba and his co-accused Komeng Gubag shot two men at Erima.
