AFTER 34 years of assisting family and sexual violence (FSV) cases, Snr Sgt Moses Anis says he has finally received formal sensitisation training on the subject.
Snr Sgt Anis is attached with the rural patrol unit of the Morobe Police.
He was among 15 participants from the police headquarters who attended the Family and Sexual Violence sensitisation workshop hosted by Femili PNG last week in Lae.
“I learnt how to deal with these cases through field experience during my professional career and not through any formal training on FSV,” he said.
“My first instinct when presented with such cases is to always give a fair decision.”
He expressed overwhelming gratitude for being properly sensitised on FSV and child abuse, where he learnt about the different laws in place.
“I didn’t’ know there were these many laws like the Lukautim Pikinini Act 2015 and the Family Protection Act 2013 to appropriately deal with FSV and child abuse cases but after this training, I see there are things I did right according to the laws in place even without this knowledge.
