Cops charge man with wilful murder

MILNE Bay police have charged a man with the wilful murder of his wife following two months of investigation.
They charged Caster Robert on Monday following the Aug 2 death of his wife, Julia, during a domestic argument.
Both are from Yawetau village in Esa’ala.
The husband will appear in court next week.
Julia Robert died instantly after she was stabbed in the head and had her throat slit, according to Milne Bay provincial commander Chief Insp Lincoln Gerari yesterday.
Police also reported that a body of an oil palm company employee was found floating in a river near the Waigani estate near Alotau.
Francis Ray, 26, was last seen at 6pm on Sept 26 walking along the road near Waigani.
He was not seen again until his body was found in the river at 2pm on Sept 28.
A post-mortem had been carried out on the body which showed signs of strangulation and wounds to the head.
Police are investigation, saying that they suspect foul play.
In another case, people from Samarai’s Logea Island said that they were being terrorised by a gang whose members assaulted a women two weeks ago.
Alotau police said yesterday that due to communication problems they could not give details.
