POLICE have made another arrest over the constabulary’s payroll fraud at headquarters in Port Moresby.
Assistant Commissioner for Crimes Victor Isouve said a suspect was last Friday arrested and charged with two counts of conspiracy to defraud.
Isouve said Peter Kone, 29 and from Marorogo village in Southern Highlands, who was attached to the payroll section, was under surveillance for some time until his arrest.
He said it brought the number of suspects arrested so far to three.
This follows the earlier arrest of a couple who were picked up two weeks ago in Manus following investigations. Isouve claimed the couple allegedly fled to Manus.
He said their case was transferred to Port Moresby where they would appear for mention this week.
“Certain payroll staff have been colluding with police officers to defraud by falsifying documents and paying themselves overtime and domestic market allowances over a number of years,” Isouve said.
“We know who this people are and we will be questioning them.”
Isouve said more arrests were expected.
