Coral Sea ‘princess’

National, Normal

FARAWAY and halfway around the globe,  Brittney Sweetapple always dreams of becoming a supermodel with an aim to raise money for the needy and one day return to her roots and home Papua New Guinea.
The 10-year-old is into modelling and dancing, and said she would be able to attract more corporate dollar to support her fundraising for the needy.
Mike Sweetapple, her father, is an Englishman who is married to Rose from Karkar Island in Madang and the family is currently living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) since moving there in 2007.
After two years in Darwin, the family left for Dubai where Mike secured a job with Dubai Royal Air Wing which is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE prime minister.
Brittney is the last in the family and her other siblings are Heather, Michelle and Scott.
Her mum said in an email to The National that Brittney adores modelling and dancing.
She started dancing at the age of three with a Samoan cultural group called Tifa of the South Seas.
She is the youngest member of the group and they have performed all over Northern Territory at different events.
Brittney is so confident on stage either modelling on the catwalk or in cultural dancing at her school.
She not only enjoys life but takes time to raise funds for charity.
She started when she offered her soft toys to sick children at the Port Moresby General Hospital before moving to Darwin.
Last year, Brittney raised enough money for a girl her age from a family affected by the Victoria bush fire which further added to her meeting with premier of Victoria John Brumby.
She was acknowledged for her great effort by her  Australian teachers.
