Coronavirus death toll rising

PAPUA New Guinea (PNG)’s coronavirus (Covid-19) death toll continues to rise with another three deaths reported at noon on Sunday.
The death toll had breached the century mark with three deaths on Friday. The toll is now 105. PNG Covid-19 National Pandemic Response Controller and Police Commissioner David Manning said in a media statement that the deaths were reported in Morobe (two men aged 60 and 78) and a 58-year-old man who died in West Sepik.
Comm Manning said 166 new infections were reported from 23 districts in 14 provinces, increasing the national Covid-19 cases to 10,835. “To date, the National Control Centre has completed 86,619 tests for the Covid-19,” he said.
“A total of 674 tests are pending laboratory results.
“A total of 8,561 people have recovered from the Covid-19 to date while 2,169 cases are still active.”
Globally, the total Covid-19 cases is 145,216,414, including 849,130 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
