Corruption in Rigo becoming a norm

Letters

CORRUPTION in Central’s Rigo administration is rampant and widespread.
It is becoming a norm.
Corruption is delaying the progress of development in the district.
It is rooted in public administration, making public servants incompetent and incapable.
Corruption and blaming the system are contributing towards making Rigo becoming a “failed district”.
Corruption occurs on different levels and ranges from small favours between people to corruption that affects the district on a large scale (grand corruption) and it becomes an endemic and systematic routine.
Petty corruption is done by lower ranking officers.
They survive on corruption.
Store licenses, local market sales tax, PMV licenses and other revenues from the local level governments and the district are being misused and unaccounted for.
Bribery, receiving cash, gifts or others are a collaborative effort between the bureaucracy and the political office.
Contract Works grants, small medium enterprises (SMEs) grants and project support grants are swindled around the networks and corridors of the district’s administrative office and the MP’s office, only to entertain families and cronies.
There is this catch phrase of “Love Rigo, love corruption”.
Theft of public money is common and deeply rooted in the administration.
People have lost faith and trust in the administration.
Is there any hope for the better?
