WITH less than two months to the finals, wins are at a premium as teams scamper for a top-five finish in Port Moresby soccer at the Bisini grounds.

In the men’s premier competition, the main game sees Cosmos take on second-placed  Port Moresby School of Excellence (PomSOE).

It will be family rivalry as John Ray of PomSOE plays against Joe Ealedona’s Cosmos – his father’s team.

Cosmos should see the majority of players from the NSL franchise Eastern Star FC taking the field while the young guns are not short of scorers themselves.

Flankers Daniel Taylor and Numa Kila will be supporting front-liners Lap Embel and Rodney Mobiha.

Embel is the son of former Sports Minister Philemon Embel.

Competition leaders Yamaros and PomSOE have opened up a two-game break over nearest rivals University, Gordon Mates and Etsu Mungkas who are being chased by Bulolo, Cosmos, Rotek Momase and the improving Guria outfit.

Reigning premiers University have quietly moved into third position and take on the inconsistent Rotek Momase.

University coach David Passam will be looking for more consistency after he described their first half effort against Kokoda Warriors as that of a second division side.

Yamaros striker Chuckstan Aopi will be hungry for goals against LBC Defence return after one month out with injury.

On Sunday, Cosmos play their second match against Etsu Mungkas.

Mungkas have struggled of late and will be desperate for a win against the green machine.

Fans are encouraged to watch the lesser known men’s division three matches at Bisini tomorrow.

Kutu, Barai, Yumi Yet and Culture are four of the 10 teams competing at Bisini.

In the women’s premier games, the 9.30am encounter will be a beauty as University challenge the free-scoring Etsu Mungkas.

Guria and Murat will be looking to consolidate their top  form with wins over Lamana and Telikom respectively.
