Council picks women execs

THE Morobe Council of Women has appointed Alewi Michael as its president.
Mino Kila is deputy president and Helen Singuling, Moata Apu, Tama Edward, Susan Kaimos, Grace Kama and Goleng Panamu are committee members.
The coordinator is Kemene Deko.
Michael thanked the Governor, 33 local level government presidents and women for re-electing them to the council at last week’s meeting.
She said their job now was to work with all stakeholders to better the lot of women in the province.
Michael urged aspiring women’s election candidates to make sure they had reputable backgrounds.
She said the responsibility of being a leader was great.
She suggested only those who could speak up and move women’s issues should consider contesting.
She said in order for women to have their voices heard, they had to work closely with men for the empowerment of women to begin.
