A SENIOR councillor in East Pangia, Southern Highlands, has urged voters in Pangia to elect responsible local level government presidents.

Representing councillors in East Pangia, Mololocal ward council councillor Apaki Yora said some presidents had failed to deliver services causing people to suffer.

Yora said local MP and Prime Minster Peter O’Neill had distributed the funds to the leaders but it failed to reach those in charge of projects.

“We will not blame our local MP but leaders who he had trusted to work with the people at the community level,” he said.

“The people are still in the primitive stage without access to government services.”

He said people now had a fair idea on who the good leaders were and would vote for them to work with O’Neill on projects.

He warned people against those campaigning with “sweet talk” and possibly giving out money.
