A WARD councillor in Jiwaka slaughtered more than 50 pigs last Saturday and invited other intending candidates to a feast before the local level government elections begin.

Peter Kis from the Kuiono council ward in the Banz local level government came up with the idea because he did not want to have hard feelings later or create political differences with the rival candidates during and after the elections.

The event took place at his Kuiono village and witnessed by fellow villagers.

Kis said he used money and resources to host the feast because he wanted to maintain a good and peaceful relationship between the candidates.

“This is the way to go and that will help us to contest a peaceful election. I want us to play the game in a good way and allow the people to decide,” he said.
