The National, Monday July 28th, 2014
THE director of the Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs Joseph Warus has urged councillors from the Wewak, East Sepik, attending a week-long orientation programme in Wewak to make use of the opportunity and learn as much as possible.
Speaking at the start of the training at Divine Word University, Kaindi campus last Monday, Warus said the orientation was educational and all should learn the roles and responsibilities taught.
“The five-day training is intensive as different facilitators will educate you on necessary requirements on your roles as LLG leaders as these are demarcated and must be respected as you serve your terms in office,” Warus said.
“Information is power and through this programme you will learn a lot. I urge you all to take back what you have learnt and implement in your LLGs,”he told the 109 ward members.
Warus said the department had realigned its focus on the government and has given priority to help in every possible way to assist in terms of addressing problems encountered in the provinces to help in fully implement reforms.
