Counting starts in Central province

COUNTING in Central province started yesterday with the Kairuku-Hiri electorate ballot boxes counted at Murray Barracks.
Returning officer Edward Kila said it should take three weeks for the team to count the 41 ballots boxes.
Kila has 38 teams comprising  300 counting officials – 150 to work during the day and 150 at night.
The first box opened at 10.15am
yesterday was from the Gaire, Dagoda and Barakau wards.
Kila said 3,730 people voted in the three wards.
The total number of ballot papers received for the regional and open seats was 9,344.
