Country needs good leaders

Letters

NATIONS rise or fall based on leadership.
This can be applied to any organisation too.
Leadership comes in many forms and kind.
However, they display certain common characteristics such as vision, executive ability, broad and open mindedness, humility and courage.
They see the bigger picture and are determined to bring the nation and organisation to that destiny.
Since they are courageous and visionary, they will innovate and pioneer new paths.
Any obvious disappointments will not deter the direction they are moving towards.
They help those they lead to see and embrace the vision too.
There is a saying that: “with great power comes great responsibility”.
This is very true in leadership.
Leaders have the power and authority to make decisions and set in motion visions and policies to help the people.
They study the social indicators and swiftly introduce social reforms to remove oppressive and suppressive polices to create a good environment for the people they lead.
Take Papua New Guinea for example; if polygamy and sorcery practice causes disharmony, deaths and many other social ills, the social indicators are clear so they will swiftly put in place laws to outlaw these practices.
Good leaders who know that God had placed them in these positions of trust and great privilege will use their leadership abilities to build good nations or organisations which after they are gone, they will be remembered in years to come.
It becomes harder to wipe away their footprints or fit in their shoes.
Any leader that falls short of critical leadership capabilities mentioned should not be made a ruler over others.
There is great confusion and disorder when bad leaders rule.
Their insensitive laws and policies make people gasp for fresh air.
They make people hopeless and helpless and bring them to breaking point.
What happens after this point?
We leave to you to conclude.
These are some points to ponder on.
God is the only judge and will bring to pass what does not fit well for the people.

  • Thank you Ruthy & Nates for the great insights.

Another characteristic of a strong leader in any organisation is “Discipline.” Where there is no discipline, there is always chaos, and people tend to do their own thing.

Leaders with discipline also practice what they preach.
