NOTHING says physical challenge like completing the Kokoda Track in 96 hours for charity.
A Maroochydore couple will take on the 96km track of rugged and treacherous terrain, which normally takes people no less than eight days to complete.
Natalie Evans and Glen Thomasen will head to Papua New Guinea in August to compete in the Bravehearts challenge, in which they must raise A$25,000.
They are currently putting themselves through a gruelling training regime, involving beach running carrying 20kg backpacks, running up Mount Coolum with rocks in their packs and climbing Mt Tibrogargan.
Natalie’s inspiration for this challenge stems from her background in journalism and private investigation, seeing the effects of child abuse.
“I have chased a lot of dead-beat dads,” she said.
Natalie said another deciding factor to complete the Kokoda challenge came from the their New Year’s resolution to have
an adventure.
The Coast mother said she was on the Bravehearts founding committee in 1997 and had since been heavily involved in the charity that advocated for the rights of those impacted by sexual assault.
