A GROUP of young couples have undergone counselling on how to lead proper Christian marriage relationships.

The Hanuabada Good News Ministry held the retreat for the young couples on Gemo Island, Port Moresby from April 19 to 20. The ages of the couples were between 17 and 35.

Rev Dago Morea said the ministry saw a need to address married life because issues such as wife-bashing and broken marriages were becoming a norm in society today.

“My wife Pr Philis Morea and I believe that marriage is based on the Word of God. If we have reverence for the Lord in our marriage, we will not have problems.

“In a Christian marriage relationship, two shall become one flesh, leave their parents, be independent, grow and experience life together.

“A lot of couples today run back to their parents for comfort when they are in an argument or a fight.

“Hanuabada is in the vicinity of the city thus the young population is exposed to influences of western culture likewise for other urban areas.”
