HEARING of applications to intervene in a Supreme Court application filed by Opposition Leader Belden Namah have been adjourned to tomorrow.
Justice David Cannings, at the Waigani Supreme Court, adjourned the hearing after the service of the new amended application by Namah was served on short notice.
The adjournment would allow the former interveners and two interested parties Pangu Pati and the Registrar of Political Parties to file their applications and submissions to contend to be interveners in the proceedings.
This is a new application by Namah questioning the constitutionality of Prime Minister James Marape’s election last May 30.
The former application was dismissed on technical grounds on March 27, because according to court’s jurisdictions, filing amended application is not a remedy to correct technical errors during proceedings.
The refilling of the application attracted new parties while former parties, including the Marape, Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat and Minister for Justice and Attorney-General Davis Steven, will also be filing their applications to intervene together with the new interested parties.
