Waigani Committal Court senior magistrate Cosmas Bidar last week asked a young woman charged with stealing to confirm her age before proceeding with the case.
“I’m asking you for your age because if you are under the age of 18,  your case will go to Juvenile court,” Bidar explained to Vagi Lou, who told the court she was 19 years old.
Lou, from Gabi village in Central, allegedly stole K6000 from a Rita Lohia on April 30 at Gabi village.
It was alleged that the money was placed in a pink bag and left inside a shop in the village and Lou allegedly  took the bag containing the cash.
Bidar read the charge to Lou in Tok Pisin and explained that this was the first mention and police would take some time to conduct investigations and collect evidence. Lou will return to court on July 26.
