THE Committal Court in Waigani has struck out a misappropriation charge against Fly River provincial administrator Dr Modowa Gumoi because of lack of evidence.

Magistrate Pinson Pindipia struck out the proceedings because police had failed to provide any evidence in court after charging Gumoi on July 8 with one count of misappropriation.

He ordered that Gumoi’s bail of K5,000 be refunded.

Lawyer Justin Wohuinangu submitted in court that they had not received any information nor any documents from police to support the allegation.

Police had alleged that Gumoi had applied to his own use and to others monies that were resolved by the Fly River provincial government to be paid to Posman Kua Lawyers for legal services.

Gumoi said outside court he would now concentrate on assisting the Fly River provincial government in getting the provincial administration back on track.
