A 21-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly killed an expatriate on Feb 5, in Port Moresby is still in custody awaiting police evidence to be presented in court.
Waigani Committal Court magistrate Paul Puri Nii told Bill John, 21, from Barakau village, Rigo in Central, that the court was waiting on police evidence to be provided before the case could proceed.
Magistrate Nii gave police another month to compile their evidence and have it ready to present in court.
“Most times there is a delay in justice because the police files and evidence are not ready,” he said.
The case was adjourned to July 14.
Police alleged that the death of Romulo Domingo Antonio Jnr was preplanned by John.
Both men had known each other well for more than a year.
Police alleged that during the early hours of Feb 5, John had allegedly sent two accomplices ahead to Gereka beach while he went with two others to pick Antonio up at Kennedy Estate between 3pm and 4pm.
The driver dropped off John and Antonio at Gereka where they were joined by the accomplices who were introduced as “uncles”.
The men drank until around 8pm when John and the other two men allegedly attacked and killed Antonio and left the body at the scene.
