SECURITY at the Waigani National and Supreme Court yard was beefed up yesterday when an urgent application was made by state lawyers representing acting Prime Minister Belden Namah and Attorney-General Dr Allan Marat.
Hearing of the application was, however, adjourned to today following the absence of Namah and Marat in court.
State lawyers Manuel Varitimos and John Griffin were told to bring their clients to court today.
The application was to set aside a Supreme Court order to have Namah and Marat charged with contempt of court.
Yesterday, a crowd filled courtroom number one in Waigani to hear the case.
Some were taken by surprise when state lawyer John Griffin told the court that Namah and Marat were not present because they had been arrested and taken to the Boroko police station.
