Court set to decide whether case goes to trial

A CENTRAL man accused of murdering his second wife will find out next week whether he will stand trial in the National Court or be freed.
Magistrate Marcus Nandape told this to Sione Moi, 40, from Boera village, Kairuku-Hiri, Central, yesterday after he adjourned Moi’s
case to Thursday for ruling on evidence.
Moil will remain in custody.
The alleged offence took place at Boera village in Kairuku-Hiri on Nov 24, 2013.
The police report alleged that there was a meeting between Moi’s family and his second wife Vagi Gudia’s family to discuss the couple’s separation because Moi already had a wife and was still living with her (first wife).
Moi was also described as a violent person with a very abusive behaviour towards Gudia, prompting Gudia to ask her in-laws (in the meeting) if she could leave Moi.
It was alleged that when Moi joined in on the meeting, he heard what was going down and became agitated.
Police then alleged that he took out a sharp pocket knife and stabbed Gudia several times in the stomach before fleeing.
Gudia was rushed to the Gerehu clinic but died from loss of blood.
