Court sittings re-opens in Rigo
The National, Monday 16th April 2012
THE judiciary has reopened National Court sittings in remote Kwikila station in Rigo, Central province, after almost 19 years.
The Kwikila National Court was opened in 1993, by the first national chief justice Sir Buri Kidu but court sittings were never heard until last week, when two criminal cases were heard.
The cases were presided over by Justice Panuel Mogish.
Court officials will today visit Kwikila to host a Court Users Forum to educated residence of court proceedings in the area.
The theme of the forum is “Walking the criminal tracks”.
This would ensure people understand court procedures and process of criminal cases.
This is a promising sign of government services, and especially the courts reaching rural areas.
The National Court in Kwikila, will ensure most Central province cases are heard within the province, and not clog up with other cases before courts in the National Capital District.
