Court stops recount order

THE Supreme Court has stayed the judicial recount of the North Fly seat in Western pending a determination of the Supreme Court review.
The unanimous decision of Justice Derek Hartshorn, Justice Ere Kariko and Justice Allen David was delivered at Waigani last Thursday.
The court was satisfied that a stay was appropriate and ordered for the parties to progress with filing of the review application.
The court has also stayed a National Court decision that upheld a petition filed by Paiyo Bale who was the third runner-up.
The Supreme Court registry is yet to allocate a date of the hearing of the substantive matter.
