Magistrate Cosmas Bidar told a man to get a lawyer to challenge the police  on how he was formally arrested and charged.
Bidar, after reading Mathew Boen’s charge for attempted murder, told Boen that he could challenge the manner in which he was arrested and charged by police through a lawyer.
Boen said he was detained for 12 hours in a police cell without a formal charge.
Bidar said: “If you want to challenge this, you can do that through a lawyer.”
But Bidar said allegations on his charge sheet were the reasons for him to be brought court.
Police alleged that on June 19 at around 10pm, Boen attempted to kill Vincent Honk with two others at Paul Tokey’s home at Ensisi Valley in NCD.
He was alleged to have used a bush knife and swung it in a dangerous manner. He was charged with attempted murder.
