Court to rule on Wau’s attempted murder case

TOURISM Minister and Kerowagi MP Guma Wau will learn his fate today as the Kunidawa Committal Court decides a ruling on his alleged attempted murder charge.
The court has completed its hearing into the alleged shooting incident by Wau in early June which left John Augando, of Urinigle village, seriously injured during at an alleged road block.
If the court has found sufficient evidence, it will commit Wau to stand trial at the National Court to answer the attempted murder charge.
It was alleged the member used a pistol to shoot the victim.
Augando was admitted at the Kundiawa General Hospital.
He was discharged but is still suffering from the damaged bones to his right leg and bush knife wounds sustained on his left arm.
Wau allegedly committed the offence prior to his appointment as minister.
The incident allegedly took place when the MP was returning from Kerowagi to Kundiawa town with his family when the alleged road block was set at Urinigle section of the Highlands Highway.
Wau earlier maintained that he fired shots into the air to disperse the youths setting road blocks.
