THE Supreme Court last Friday dismissed an attempt by former Yangorru-Saussia MP Peter Wararu to review a National Court decision to dismiss his election petition against sitting MP Richard Maru.

Wararu had sought leave at the Supreme Court on grounds of incompetence but Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika ruled that he had no grounds to challenge the National Court decision.

Maru said the decision was a win for his people.

“I can now fully concentrate on serving the people of Yangoru-Saussia and our country without uncertainty hanging over my mind,” he said.

Maru, who is the Commerce and Trade Minister, also urged the people to forget their political differences and unite “so we can move the development agenda in our area”.
