TO sign a marriage covenant between a man and woman and having their union blessed in church in the presence of God is the most important aspect of marriage.

This was the message relayed by Salvation Army Northern Territorial divisional commander Major George Karogoto about 60 people who witnessed six couples receiving their marriage blessing at the Salvation Army Tent City church in Lae last Sunday.

The ceremony featured couples blessed after signing a document confirming their covenant with God.

It is slightly different from a wedding ceremony as most of the couples had wedded traditionally and already had children and grandchildren.

Karogoto in his sermon pointed out that getting married in the presence of Godwas important because it was presided by a pastor or minister.

He said a Christian marriage dedicated to God required the partners to be always faithful to each other and to God despite the many trials and temptations.

The couples also made testimonies to the congregation and family members after signing the marriage covenant.
