CITY Pharmacy Ltd has equipped its employees with the needed skills by conducting a continuing professional education (CPE) session for their internal audit staff.

The course was facilitated by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

A statement from the company said the first module was attended with the stakeholders of CPL Group and Hardware Haus, where an understanding of internal audit function within the organisation was obtained.

It will be followed up by catch-up sessions to realign the CPL internal audit’s practices according to the conceptual framework.

The programme was built on the premise of ongoing enhancement of value delivered by the internal audit function.

The mission of internal audit in CPL Group includes conducting the fieldwork according to the highest standards by providing an objective assurance and advising on best practices.

It is, however, a challenge faced by the company’s internal audit department operating in a small-scale audit activity as it is compounded by the lack of experience or qualifications within the unit.

Hence, as a strategy to uphold and maintain conformance with standards is to provide opportunities for staff to obtain CPE facilitated by a firm that believes in CPL’s advocacy if quality and sustainability.

The CPL management had supported the initiative in the context of the group’s growth.

The participating employees were grateful to the CPL Group for funding CPE as the training had uncovered many areas that were well structured and suited to the requirements of their job.

The CPL Group takes pride in skilling their staff and is committed in updating their work-related skills.

CPL Group is the PNG’s biggest retailing network.
