CITY Pharmacy Ltd receives about 80 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables monthly to supply its Stop & Shop outlets in Port Moresby, CPL board member Mary Handen says.
Handen said the monthly quantity had an average value of K300,000.
“We can only do that because of the fact that we do not have the necessary infrastructure at the moment, and we are looking at increasing that once our facilities are built,” she said.
Handen said this would include its new freezer facility that was currently being built at Gerehu in Port Moresby – a part of the new warehouse it was building at the same site. CPL’s previous warehouse burnt down 2017.
“At the moment, we have 15 farmers that we are dealing with and they are spread all throughout the country,” Handen said.
“They are from Sorgeri, PAU (Pacific Adventist University), 9-Mile and then we have farmers from Goroka, with Mt Hagen being our biggest supplier.”
