Creat separate district for Kutubu-Bosavi

Letters

THE people of Kutubu and Bosavi are living in suspense.
Many say Kutubu people live extravagantly and can access services by the government and resource developers.
This is not true.
The people of Kutubu are neglected and not given enough attention.
Despite this, many people continue to move to Kutubu in search of employment opportunities.
During the presentation of two vehicles in Kutubu Pimaga government station, Kutubu local level government president John Kila said his people in Kutubu and Bosavi still lived in fear and government services needed to reach them.
Kila said he was doing his best to change the face of Kutubu by strengthening law and order.
Since oil was discovered in Kutubu 30 years ago, the peaceful and loving people of Kutubu have never received services from the Government nor the developer.
I am talking about services such as water supply and sanitation, electricity, housing scheme, schools, hospital and sealed roads.
More than 60,000 people of Kutubu and Bosavi are in need of services.
Some of our places in Kutubu and Bosavi are in stone age.
They have no roads, no aid post and no schools.
Examples of the challenging law and order situation in the area are the stolen Inu mission station aid post ambulance, the stolen Pimaga Hospital ambulances and one of our chief, Montage Yamabo, was killed.
We want to take Kutubu and Bosavi back.
Let us build our own empire and reclaim what is ours.
We know the Government had allocated K5 million to the Electoral Boundaries Commission to start boundary work in all provinces.
We ask the commission to look at Nipa-Kutubu and give Kutubu-Bosavi a separate electorate.
We want a separate electorate.
