Creating more districts

Letters

PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill earlier this month spoke about the need to create more districts in line with the growing population.
Nipa-Kutubu is one of the largest and overpopulated districts in Southern Highlands. It has five LLGs. According to the 2011 National Population Census, it has a population of 147,005.
That population figure has increased and it is estimated to be at 200,000.
One MP is not capable of looking after the growing population.
When you list and compare all the districts in Southern Highlands and other provinces in terms of population and geographic sites, Nipa-Kutubu deserves to have a new district.
For effective delivery of service and infrastructure development, there is a need for Nipa-Kutubu district to be split into two.
Can the Government, through the Electoral Boundaries Commission, move this request forward?
