Crime: It’s just follow the leader

A 1984 report by the Institute of National Affairs in stated that law and order problems are, to  a considerable extent, political problems – they stem from poor relations between the state and its citizens and are aggravated by corruption.

The report said that improvements in law and order depend very much on the integrity, decisiveness and commitment of political leaders.

No matter how many laws Parliament passes, it cannot deter law and order problems unless our politicians and top public servants stop the pillaging  of our country’s coffers.

The more money that is stolen or mismanaged, the more crime will rise.

It does not matter how many state agencies they form to investigate. If there are no convictions and imprisonments, crime will continue to rise.

The challenge is for our leaders to lead by example.

They should not be setting examples for those from the grassroots to follow in their footsteps.

Crime is bad for business.
