MORE than 4000 members of the Catholic Church are expected to be part of the Station of the Cross in Port Moresby tomorrow.
Gerehu St Paul Parish church leader Gabriel Togola said the cross procession would start at the parish at 4am and finish at 11.30am at St Peter Chanel Parish, Erima.
Togola said the programme would begin at Gerehu stage six with 19 dioceses from the capital, with people camping at the church ground today.
He said tomorrow’s procession would go through Waikele, Back Road stage six, Mosin Plaza, Gerehu roundabout, the National Research Institute, University of PNG main gate, administration college ADCOL, Waigani traffic lights, Vision City, bmobile headquarters, Central Waigani Under Tunnel, Courts, Eda Ranu office, Erima road, Sister Fairfall United Church and St Peter Chanel Parish.
Togola said the event would also include other denominations, inmates from Bomana, military personnel and individuals.
“As Christians, we look up to the cross as a salvation, redemption and safety for us,” he said.
“It reminds us that Jesus died on the cross and suffered for our sins and we were born again, without the cross there is no salvation.”
Togola said the bishops and cardinals would be at St Peter Chanel to bless the cross and announce its journey for next year.
