CS officer on bail

 A FEMALE Correctional Services officer charged with aiding the escape of  William Kapris and two other prisoners from Bomana jail was granted a K500 court bail last Friday.

Hilda Gazawe, 44, of Kiono village, Chuave, Chimbu, appeared before magistrate Cosmas Bidar in the Waigani committal court. 

Gazawe was working as a medical officer at the Bomana jail, outside Port Moresby, when she was alleged to have smuggled two pistols that were used to aid the escape of the prisoners. 

The police prosecutor said he had agreed for the bail because Gazawe was a single mother whose children needed her support. 

The case was adjourned to a later date.
