A CORRECTIONAL Service officer claimed that he was beaten up by a police officer for parking on the wrong side of the road.
The alleged assault come weeks after Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga dedicated the constabulary to God and declared this year as a year of discipline.
Pt Sauto Yamuno said he was hit with the barrel of a gun a number of times on the right ear and jaws before being punched.
He has lodged a complaint with police at the 6-Mile police station.
NCD Metropolitan Supt Peter Guinness when contacted yesterday said he was not aware of any report on the assault.
“I advise the victim to come and personally see me in my office. Appropriate actions will be taken to investigate the complaint,” Guinness said.
Yamuno was travelling with a male passenger when he stopped on the side of the road at 9-Mile, Sogeri Road Junction, at around 9.30pm last Thursday, to answer a call on his phone.
He said after the phone conversation, he drove slowly to the far right side of the Sogeri one-way road at 9-Mile to cross to his lane.
He said three policemen in a police vehicle saw him.
One of them ordered him to stop.
Yamuno alleged that the policeman accused him of parking on the wrong lane and started assaulting him.
