CS officers farewell former boss
The National – Thursday, March 24, 2011
BEON correctional officers bid farewell to jail boss Supt Joe Jako, who will be taking up his new post as manager of operations at Buimo prison in Morobe.
At a small gathering last week, Jako thanked all officers for their support in the last four years.
“We have our own failures but your self-discipline and cooperation have resulted in no mass break outs,” he said.
Jako urged the officers to give the same support to his successor.
Meanwhile, acting commander Chief Insp Tata Wada thanked Jako for running the jail well.
Wada appealed for the same support and discipline from the officers.
He also urged all officers to put God first “and He would honour us with good rewards because we are the mentor of these prisoners, who have no hope but imparting good things in their mindset to make a complete change in their lives”.
Wada thanked the CS commissioner for the confidence in him to oversee the jail.
Officers, families and prisoners witnessed the ceremony and ended with the presentation of gifts.
