CSOs call for support

Pacific Civil Society Organisations have called on Pacific leaders for their support in major regional issues.
Pacific CSO representative Ann Singeo made the call in a presentation to the Pacific Islands Forum Troika leaders in Port Moresby on Tuesday.
Troika is made up of leaders of past PIF hosts, Marshall Islands, present (Palau) and incoming (Papua New Guinea).
The five major regional issues, which are the main agenda for this week’s Pacific Islands Forum are, Climate change and disaster risk management, increased economic returns from fisheries activity and maritime surveillance, information and communications technology, cervical cancer and West Papua.
“Civil society appeals to leaders to garner political support for this agenda,” Singeo said.
