COMRADE Trustee Services Ltd (CTSL) started its member engagement activity this week with the aim of meeting with the members and creating awareness about the fund and its plans going forward.
Chief executive officer Charlie Gilichibi, during his visit to the members of the PNG Defence Force at Goldie River Training Depot in Central yesterday, said that the feedback they received so far had been good, particularly, with regards to the taskforce review (including medical benefits) which would take place later this year.
“Currently, you will have to be retired, be declared not fit to hold down a job anymore or exit employment fully to get 100 per cent of your savings to go and treat yourself medically,” he said.
“But one feedback we got from our members is that they can still be at work and get something like a housing advance, but it is called medical advance, so they can go and treat themselves, come back and resume employment.
“So, as part of the taskforce review, that will be one of the specific feedback that CTSL will provide.”
Gilichibi said this would be discussed with members in the industry to create provision within the Superannuation Act to get medical advance.
He noted they had visited Murray Barracks on Monday, Taurama on Tuesday, Basilisk Naval Base on Wednesday and the Goldie training depot yesterday.
He added that they would be visiting Igam in Lae, Moem in Wewak and Lombrum naval base in Manus in the coming weeks.
Gilichibi added that one of the common issues raised during this week’s engagement with the members was their balance.
