Cultural commission gets new boss
NATIONAL Cultural Commission acting executive director Caspar Damien has been replaced by John Uani.
Culture and Tourism Minister Emil Tamur said Damien had been acting in the position for almost two years.
Damien was appointed by the former Culture and Tourism Minister Tobias Kulang in June 2016.
“He was just acting so the Personnel Management Department has revoked his position,” he said.
He said Uani was not new to the commission.
“I want someone within the commission to continue from where Damien left off,” he said.
“We have to continue our preparation for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.
“We also have the Melanesians Arts Festival coming up in July in Honiara, Solomon Islands.”
Tamur said Uani would act in the position until the board appointed a permanent executive director.
