Cultural festival a success, says Sir Peter

A FESTIVAL held last week Tuesday in Yandera at Bundi in Madang, was attended by Sir Peter Barter along with others was a success.
Sir Peter said the attendance and participation of the locals and others who have attended the event displayed the togetherness in celebration and promotion of the Madang culture.
Despite the challenges presented by the Covid-19 restrictions, people were still keen to see, promote and stage cultural activities.
Sir Peter who is the chairman of Melanesian Foundation and managing director of the Melanesian Tourist Services, said the first Bundi-Komba Festival was a successful event and that he looks forward to more of this practices .
He commended the efforts of chairman Vincent Kamura and his team for organising a successful event.
“I don’t see your government or any of your members here today but only Kamura and his team,” he said.
Sir Peter said he would continue to support groups such as the Kamura Foundation and others who promote the culture of the people of Madang.
The Kamura Foundation have been using the tourism platform to promote the culture of the people of Madang with the support of partners like Sir Peter Barter.
Kamura thanked Sir Peter for his support and his effort to support the foundation.
Chief executive officer of the National Cultural Commission Steven Kilanda said it was through the help of Sir Peter that he attended the festival.
Kilanda said the Government was faced with funding problems as he was assisted by Sir Peter.
